Parents, School Districts, Business Leaders and even the Texas Supreme Court agree that the way Texas funds education is outdated.
But what are we going to do about it? The 2017 legislative session created a year-long Texas Commission on Public School Finance, which is charged with improving the current system. Members of the Commission include lawmakers, community leaders, educators, and school district officials.
Commission members are working to develop a comprehensive set of recommendations for the Legislature to consider in 2019. To date, they have heard over 100 hours of testimony from teachers, school districts, community members and business leaders.
